Visitors Guide to Kellogg Park in La Jolla

Kellogg Park is a large grassy park located in close proximity at L a Jolla Shores beach at Camino Del Oro and Vallecitos in La Jolla, California. This park is known for its ample space made available for children to run and play. A corresponding playground is located approximately 75 yards south near the boardwalk past the Lifeguard Station.

Rules and Guidelines
This park is known for providing a safe and pro-family environment with a complete ban on alcoholic beverages and o glass containers. Permits can be applied for at the Permit Center of San Diego’s Park & Recreation Department for days between Labor Day and Memorial Day. No permits are handed out for the summer months or holidays. 

Availability and Location
With Kellogg Park located right near the La Jolla Shores, this beach front is the only one in the city limits that provide a boat launch area for Surf Camps, divers, and kayakers. Kellogg Park has a maximum capacity of 80 people and open from 4:00am to 10:00pm. Parking lots are gated and close at 10:00pm. Several restroom and showers are available on site.

To locate Kellogg Park, take Hwy 52 West towards La Jolla Parkway and proceed to the stoplight at the bottom of the hill. Turn Right onto La Jolla Shores Road, then left onto Avenida de la Playa. Proceed right onto Camino del Oro where you can locate the parking lot on the left hand side. Arrive early during the summer weekends as the parking lot fills up quickly.

Kellogg Park Highlights
Providing a relaxed environment along the shoreline, certain areas of the park offer small trees and shrubs from the beach and boardwalk adding additional privacy and surrounding atmosphere. Many other shoreline parks in the area overlook the ocean on bluff tops while Kellogg Park is located right up to the beach area.
For divers, this area offers a gentle surf for ocean entry. Local park amenities include a playground, picnic tables, restrooms, and showers. Dogs are allowed on leash only. Additional regulations require no alchol, no inflatable jumps, and no glass containers. Lifeguard stations are manned starting at 9:00am to dusk and staffed all year round.
Popular Activities
The top activities found along the La Jolla Shores are surfing, boogie boarding, body surfing, swimming, scuba diving, and snorkeling. Along paved trails, many people are found jogging, walking, and biking.
