Unique Homemade Valentine’s Day Gifts for Him

There is nothing more thoughtful or touching than a homemade Valentine’s Day gift. While men don’t like to admit it, they do have a sentimental side. Offering a handmade gift will make his heart melt and will be something he truly appreciates. Below are some unique homemade Valentine’s Day gifts for him.
His and Her Pillowcases
If the two of you share a home, sewing “his and her” pillowcases is a cute idea that doesn’t necessarily have to be “mushy.” A simple idea would be to sew half of a heart on the end of each pillowcase with the word “his” or “her” in the middle. When the pillows are next to each other, the heart becomes whole. This is a sweet but subtle way to show your affection – and to show off your sewing skills too.
Homemade Heart Shaped Pop Tarts
As the saying goes, “The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.” Start the day off right by making him a homemade heart-shaped pop tart – or three. Believe it or not, pop tarts are incredibly easy to make at home. All you need is some puff pastry and some “pie” fillings. You can choose to buy the canned pie filling if you like, or you can create the filling yourself. If your man loves apple pie, stuff the pastry with finely diced apple (Granny Smith works best), 3 tablespoons of brown sugar, 1 tablespoon of white sugar and ½ teaspoon of cinnamon. Mix all the ingredients together and fill the tarts. Top with more cinnamon and sugar for an added treat.
A Book of Memories
Take a new approach to scrapbooking by creating a book of memories. Use recycled materials that you find around the house. Recycled paper bags make an excellent choice because they are sturdy and can easily be cut down to resemble a sheet of paper. Use masking tape to bind the pages together. Place a photo on each page and describe the memory in short but sweet phrase. This is an inexpensive homemade gift that he will appreciate and enjoy for many years to come.
A Handmade Card
Cards are always a thoughtful gift, but why buy a card when you can make your own? You can purchase supplies at any craft or stationary store. There are also plenty of tutorials online that help you get started. Just make sure that your note is personal and sentimental.
Valentine’s Day Coupons
When all else fails, Valentine’s Day coupons are always a great choice. Some people find coupon books cheesy, but the sentiment behind the gift is what really matters. Each coupon should entitle your partner to something special. This can be a massage, dinner, a night free of chores or something a bit more “naughty.” Print the coupons out on fun and festive paper to make the gift more special.
A Year of Dates
This is a gift that your man can enjoy all throughout the year. Take 12 envelopes and fill each one with date ideas. This can be one date per week or as many dates as the two of you can schedule in each month. Go the extra mile and purchase tickets to a game or concert and slip them inside of its corresponding envelope. Dates don’t always have to be extravagant either. A stroll through the park or stargazing are fun ways to spend time together that won’t cost you a dime. Planning dates each month ensures that the two of you get to spend some alone time together outside of the house.
Date Night Gift Basket
For a unique and inexpensive gift idea, create a Valentine’s Day gift basket that the two of you can enjoy together. Fill it with a few movies, some snacks and wine (or sparkling cider). If you plan on snuggling by the fire, don’t forget to pack some marshmallows, graham crackers and chocolate to make some s’mores. While romance movies may be a nice way to celebrate this special day, don’t forget about your man’s taste in movies. If he likes action flicks, he will appreciate you including this favorite movie in the basket.
Framed Valentine Quote
Framing a sentimental or meaningful quote that relates to your relationship makes for a thoughtful gift. Photo frames can be purchased in a craft store or local department store. If you choose a plain frame, you can paint it and include your own personal message on the frame as well. When printing the quote or message, be creative with the way you present the text.
While Valentine’s Day is often labeled as a “commercial holiday,” a homemade gift makes the day more special and thoughtful. Rather than purchasing an expensive gift for your loved one this year, create something from the heart. He will appreciate and love the thought and effort you put into your gift.
