What's in a Name? Part 2

Posted on November 22, 2013 by Rachelle Crumrine

Shortly after the birth of the royal baby, the Tijon family grew with the birth of my own daughter, finally making John and Cyndi (Tijon’s founder’s) grandparents!  Thus, things have been a bit hectic here and mommyhood has proven to be as busy as ever.

Instead of a more traditional name, my husband and I chose to make our little one more unique.  We chose “Lluvia” for her middle name after a precious girl I met in Mexico during a mission trip; but with the last name of “Crumrine” from her father, this baby girl already had a mouthful of a name! Adding a first name from a different heritage would've sounded unnatural, so we narrowed it down to Spanish names.

After much thinking, we settled on “Solana,” which loosely means “sunshine” in Spanish. Solana Beach is one of our favorite places and the name just fit. Plus, we loved the nickname “Lana” to keep with our love of Hawaii and calm waters. That is the story behind Solana Lluvia Crumrine!

Every name has a story, just as every fragrance has a story. Sometimes the name describes the scent and sometimes the scent reveals the name.  The biggest fragrance story in our opinion is that of Chanel No. 5.  The truth behind how the perfume was named is still a bit of a mystery. One theory is that five was Coco Chanel’s lucky number. Another theory says it was the fifth sample recipe to be created.  Either way, the story is fascinating and further draws us towards the fragrance.

Need something alluring this holiday season?  Create a new fragrance with us and give it meaning with your own unique name. Or, stop by Tijon La Jolla and cast your vote on our newest fragrance “Solana,” made in honor of my daughter and the Solana Beach neighborhood.  Give your opinion on which scent captures the story of Solana the most… and don’t forget to share your own story with us.

Posted on May 30, 2013 by Rachelle Crumrine

Father’s Day is on Sunday, June 16 this year, and with summer quickly approaching it feels right around the corner.  So what do you get dad this year? Another tie? Another book?  What about something unique?  If you’re in San Diego, finding an original gift to get dear-old-dad has never been this easy!  La Jolla’s only parfumerie, Tijon, is offering a complimentary steel bracelet when you buy any large men’s cologne or Cologne Creation Experience for Dad.  Not only are you getting him his own custom-scent, but he gets a bonus gift too!  If Dad’s not a big cologne guy, here are some other ways to make Fathers Day in San Diego a special one!

San Diego Padres play home games at Petco Park on Friday, Saturday and Sunday! Take dad to his favorite downtown bar for a drink, then head over and watch the Padres beat the Diamondbacks!

·Visit American Home Brewing Supply and pick up everything Dad needs to create his very own brew!

·Tour sunny downtown San Diego on a Segway tour! Dad and the whole family can enjoy two hours of historical landmarks while learning how to operate these “Bikes of the Future.”

·Enjoy a Father’s Day Beer Brunch Cruise with Hornblower Cruises and Events.  Cruises include unlimited beer and champagne, a brunch buffet, and a souvenir pint glass for dad, not to mention the breathtaking views of San Diego.

With all these exciting and creative gift ideas, there’s no excuse to get Dad cufflinks again, unless they match his new Tijon Steel Bracelet of course!
